Powder Puff Post Game

In a game highlighted by speed, intensity, and excitement, the senior girls defeated the juniors 22-19 in the annual powder puff football game. Led by Sam Stern who threw and rushed for over 300 combined yards, the seniors were able to bounce back from an early 3-0 deficit. The juniors, guided by Jocelyn Prescott’s 100 yards on the ground, and Meghan Marro’s impressive defense were able to keep the seniors scoreless in the first quarter, while adding three points of their own on a Jenna Shalkowski field goal. However, it didn’t take long for the class of 08’ to take the lead, after using a cleverly devised offsides trap repeatedly to move the ball up the field, the seniors got close enough to allow Sam Stern to run the ball in for a touchdown, making the score 6-3.

Powder Puff Preview

This Sunday, the seniors will square off against the juniors in the always anticipated annual Powder Puff Football game. The seniors are looking to avenge last year’s loss to the class of 2007, while the juniors are seeking a win in their debut game. The senior team, led by Sam Stern (‘08), Carlea Lindgren (‘08) and Sara Taub (‘08), will be trying to find holes in an inexperienced junior defense. “We are a very strong team with lots of big play potential,” said head coach Alex Saltzberg (‘08). With speed and agility as their team’s strengths, the seniors are confident that they will be able to put up big points against the juniors.
