Sakura Sushi and Hibachi, located at 814 S White Horse Pike in Somerdale, has easily earned a spot on my list of favorite sushi restaurants.
From the outside, the restaurant might not immediately stand out as anything extraordinary. However, the colorful banners and small decorative touches show genuine effort in creating a welcoming first impression. Once you step inside, the atmosphere completely shifts. You’re greeted by a cozy, intimate setting that feels both comfortable and inviting. The staff welcomes you with warm, hospitable smiles and quickly guides you to your table, setting the tone for a pleasant experience.
One of the most unique aspects of the restaurant is the open kitchen island visible from the dining area. Sitting at your table, you can watch the chiefs prepare sushi in real time. Seeing the fresh ingredients and the care that goes into each dish adds a level of openness that makes you feel confident in the quality and cleanliness of the food. It’s reassuring and enhances the overall experience.
The menu offers a wide variety of Japanese dishes, including sashimi, specialty rolls, and classic favorites. During my visit, I ordered the spicy tuna roll, the Eel Love Roll, and salmon sashimi. Every item exceeded expectations. The sashimi was incredibly fresh, with a clean, delicate flavor, while the rolls were exactly what you need if you are a sushi-lover. As someone who truly enjoys sushi, I found myself completely impressed and honestly a bit obsessed with the quality.

The service also provided another positive layer to the experience. The waitress was attentive and genuinely kind, checking in just the right amount without being “too much.” To top it all off, I was surprised when they brought out ice cream at the end of the meal, a small gesture that left a lasting impression.
Overall, Sakura Sushi and Hibachi delivers not just great food, but a warm and thoughtful dining experience. Next time, I’ll make sure to try hibachi as well.
And you, reader, should add Sakura to your “go-to” list.
