On February 19, 2026, sophomores traded their usual Thursday night routines for a Paris-inspired evening at this year’s Sophomore Cotillion. With decorated tables, a glowing photo booth, and colorful lights flashing over the dance floor, Cafeteria 1 felt transformed from the moment students walked in.
Clusters of friends gathered at the light-up picture areas, posing and laughing as they documented the night. Across the room, the DJ kept the energy high, playing current hits and throwbacks that grasped more and more people onto the dance floor. Colored lights glimmered with the music, turning the center of the room into a spot for dancing. Meanwhile, students drifted back to their tables between songs, grabbing food, talking, and taking in the atmosphere.
For many, the night felt bigger than just another school dance.
“I hope sophomores will remember how fun and memorable this dance was,” said Sophomore Class Representative Lindsey Wei. “It’s kind of like our last dance as underclassmen before we move on to bigger things. It’s such a classic high school experience.”
Beyond the music and decorations, Cotillion also served a larger purpose for the class. Wei emphasized that events like this help build both spirit and support for future milestones.
“Events like this are important for class spirit,” Wei said. “The money from tickets helps support our class and fund future events, especially prom. When you show up, you’re supporting your class and connecting with more people.”
As the night continued, the sense of community became just as noticeable as the lighting and music. Students who may not normally interact found themselves sharing the dance floor or standing side by side in photos.
“I saw so many people I’d never talked to before just having fun,” Lindsey said. “I felt connected to everybody, even if we’d never spoken before.”
With its Paris-themed decorations, vibrant dance area, and moments of connection, Sophomore Cotillion 2026 was more than just a themed event. Throughout the night, it felt like the entire class came together. Not just celebrating the music or the lights, but the shared experience of being sophomores in the middle of their high school journey.
