Ever since Sophia Truran (‘22) was younger, she had a dream to play soccer in college. With her hard work and dedication, Truran is headed to Rosemont College to continue her athletic and academic career.

Truran started playing soccer when she was just five years old and truly exemplifies the meaning of determination. Truran played for her middle school team from sixth to eighth grade and has been part of the Cherry Hill East girls soccer program for the last four years. As Truran took the turn from middle school to high school, no matter the new workload, she was still going to work hard towards her goal of playing in college.

“Keeping up with school and soccer was a little struggle for me but I worked through it and was able to keep all my grades up with help from my coaches and teachers,” said Truran.

In her club team, she has always played outside wing, however, in high school, her coach put her on defense. During Truran’s senior season, she was a starting back/midfielder on varsity. Truran’s outstanding performance led her to getting second team all-conference for defense and an invitation to the all-state banquet for recognition. Truran was extremely excited about that because all her life she mostly played offense.

This past fall, Truran toured Rosemont College and loved it. She later got in touch with the coach who was attending one of her tournaments and after that tournament, the coach contacted Truran interested in having her join the team.
“Growing up I’ve always told myself I was gonna play in college and now we’re here,” said Truran.

Truran is looking forward to continuing what she loves doing most. She is ready to take on this new journey in her life and keep reaching for her goals. Truran has exciting things coming her way and we wish her the best of luck.
