Under the lights at the Cougar Stadium on Thursday, November 20, Cherry Hill East had their annual powder puff flag football game. The game is always held during spirit week where the junior girls take on the seniors girls in a flag football game. The girls are always coached by boys from their class to help come up with plays and positioning.
After last year’s tough loss for the Class of 2026, the girls were looking to bounce back and secure a win in their senior year. However, their hopes were spoiled, as the juniors came out on top, 28-21.
The juniors were led by quarterback Dylan Kratchman (‘27) and running backs Talia Armando (‘27) and Ellie Ferdas (‘27). The three girls scored all four touchdowns for the juniors, leading them to their win. Extra points were not a problem for the juniors as Ferdas was able to score the extra point kicks, showing off some of her inner soccer skills.
On the other side of the field, the seniors were led by Sydney Reiver (‘26) who played under center for the seniors. The touchdowns were scored by Julia Skoufalos (‘26), Claudia Fluginiti (‘26), and Greta Mueller (‘26). Julia Maher (‘26) was also able to go perfect on her extra point kicks.
The Class of 2027 will be back next year as seniors to try and make their powder puff record 2-0 against the Class of 2028.
“It was awesome to play in the powder puff game, playing with all of my friends and even getting to play against some of them made the experience really fun,” said Posie Radetich (‘27). “It was a cool atmosphere to be apart and really brings our grade together. It makes spirit week a lot of fun and carries right into the spirit week dance.”
