On Thursday, September 4th, the Cherry Hill High School East Football Team (2-0) picked up a dominating 61-0 victory over West Windsor-Plainsboro South High School (0-2). Quarterback Josh Greenberg (’27) led the way for the Cougars with five total touchdowns, while Dillon Haddock (’27) made key plays on both sides of the ball, contributing to the Cougars’ commanding win.
The game was packed with Cherry Hill East students coming out to support their team. The theme of the game was a “red out” to go with the Cougars who were debuting their new all red uniforms.
The Cougars came out of the gates hot, taking a 20-0 lead after Greenberg was able to connect to senior receivers Keon Simmons (‘26) and Kyle Fisher (‘26), who were both able to pick up their first receiving touchdowns of the year. The Cougars capped off the first quarter with another receiving touchdown from tight end Trevor Levin (‘27).
The scoring did not end there, with running back Jaden Green (‘27) who had a 7 yard rushing touchdown, followed up by Greenberg’s 30 yard and 38 yard rushing touchdowns to complete a 41-0 first half. The Cougars putting up 41 points set the new school record for most points scored in a single half.
The Cougars continued the running game with two rushing touchdowns coming out of the half. The first one came from Dillon Haddock who got his first rush of the season and took it all the way to the end zone for a 64 yard touchdown. Haddock also managed to add another sack to his season stats. Then the second came from Tymir Gayle (‘26) on a 8 yard rushing touchdown.
“It was good finally getting the ball on offense, being able to help my team from both sides of the ball is a great feeling. We wanna keep this going, being 2-0 everybody’s gotta do what it takes for the team for each guy on the field with you,” said Haddock.
To finish off the team’s tyrannizing win, sophomore Giorgio Barone broke free for a 37 yard touchdown to pick up his first varsity touchdown and to help close this one out for the Cougars.
“It was a great team win and lots of good stuff to look back on. What’s most important is that we keep moving forward and keep playing as a team if we want to keep on winning,” said Greenberg.
