It’s not every day that you announce your commitment to play a college sport, but that day has come for senior Brody Connors (‘26), who has announced his commitment to play Division III college baseball at Rutgers Camden.
Last season at shortstop, Connors had his best season yet, maintaining a .301 batting average. Connors had 22 hits and also managed to steal six bases.
Baseball has always been a part of Connor’s life as he has been playing since he was just four years old, and started playing travel baseball at seven. Connors has played every year since coming to East, and even picked up football along the way.
When it came time to commit to college, Connors new Rutgers Camden was the one for him, fitting all of the categories he was looking for.
“The coaching staff made me feel very welcomed on my visit…I’m getting a Rutgers degree, and the baseball field is one of the prettiest fields I have ever played on,” said Connors.
Having to decide where to commit is no easy task. Trying to figure out which school is the best fit for the next four years comes with a lot of thought, time, and help from others. It’s a decision that can shape not only your athletic or academic career but also your personal growth and future opportunities.
Between campus visits, long conversations with family and coaches, and weighing all the pros and cons, the process can feel overwhelming, but it’s also a big step forward in his future career.
“I’m excited to compete with collegiate-level players, and I want to thank my parents, who have spent a lot of time with me to get me better at baseball and have spent a lot of money on trainers and equipment. Without my parents, I would not be playing in college. They made me the player I am [today],” said Connors.
