After a four-month delay, the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards finally took place. Although the Emmys traditionally air in September, this year they did not until January. Due to the actor and screenwriter strikes in Hollywood, the main organizers of the Emmys decided that the awards would be postponed, giving the industry time to heal and return to normal. These strikes began in July, when thousands of actors and actresses fought back for better pay, better working conditions, and contracts that included provisions for artificial intelligence. This marked the first time that actors and screenwriters walked out together since 1960.
This year, the Emmy Awards celebrated their 75th anniversary on January 15th in Los Angeles, California, at the Peacock Theater, which was hosted by Anthony Anderson. The Emmy Awards, also known as the Emmys, recognize outstanding accomplishments in the television field. Twenty-seven awards were presented throughout the show, including excellent directing, acting, production, and writing. Typically, they leave the most anticipated awards like outstanding drama for the very end.
Throughout the Emmys, there were many notable moments and awards given out that nobody would want to miss. For example, the comedy show “The Bear,” the drama show “Succession,” and the limited series “Beef” all won a multitude of awards during the ceremony.
