Jazz band practices in anticipation for future festivals

Cherry Hill East’s Jazz band met after school today, February 14, 2011. This time of year is extremely stressful for jazz band, since it is their festival season. Today, jazz band prepared for its Essentially Ellington Regional festival at Temple University, practicing songs, such as “Everyday I have the blues”, which they also played for their previous festival at Rowan University. At the Essentially Ellington Regional festival, bands from all around the region come to play and are awarded sectional awards. Last year, East’s jazz band’s drummer, Greg Slaton (’11), won the best soloist award.

“I think our jazz band this year is very good, because we have such a great sound going for us. I think we did really well at Rowan and I am looking forward to playing for Temple,” said Scott Nover (’13), a member of the jazz band.
