This Sunday, the seniors will square off against the juniors in the always anticipated annual Powder Puff Football game. The seniors are looking to avenge last year’s loss to the class of 2007, while the juniors are seeking a win in their debut game.
The senior team, led by Sam Stern (‘08), Carlea Lindgren (‘08) and Sara Taub (‘08), will be trying to find holes in an inexperienced junior defense.
“We are a very strong team with lots of big play potential,” said head coach Alex Saltzberg (‘08).
With speed and agility as their team’s strengths, the seniors are confident that they will be able to put up big points against the juniors.
“We’re not intimidated by any of their players,” said assistant coach Dan Folkman (‘08), “and we’re going to play to the best of our ability.”
On the other hand, the juniors, led by Jocelyn Prescott (‘09), Meghan Marro (‘09) and quarterback Carly Furintini (‘09), are a team defined by pure power and tenacity. Coach Logan Marro (‘09) declared his twin sister Meghan the team’s “secret weapon” and is relying on Prescott’s incredible speed. The juniors are also hoping to take advantage of Furintini’s deep ball potential.
“She has got a gun,” said coach Anthony Giannopoulos (‘09), “but not literally.”
With bragging rights up for stake, the juniors are adamant that their team will be able to thwart the senior team to claim its first Powder Puff victory.
“Speed combined with ingenuity creates one hell of team,” added Giannopoulos.
The Powder Puff Football game is sure to be an exciting contest. With friendships put aside for a day, expect to see lots of guts, glory and Gucci.
