Longshore Breakfast and Lunch is the best place to be if you are looking for the perfect taste of Philly pride, or simply just mouthwatering meals. Daniel Esola, Cherry Hill West graduate of 2010, is the creator of Longshore and decided to base his brunch meals on the history and food culture of Philadelphia.

“A majority of the people around us do not realize how many aspects of our country’s history began just 15 minutes across those bridges!” said Esola.
His main inspiration behind the restaurant was his father, a hardworking and loving man who grew up in Philadelphia on Longshore Avenue, hence the name of the business. The eight-month process behind this was not easy, especially considering the pandemic, but Esola and the staff wouldn’t have it any other way. They are more than thankful for the supporting community and expect to give every guest a flawless experience.

For me, the experience was more than flawless. After ordering, the food took no more than 15 minutes to arrive at our table. The pancakes were absolutely delicious, being exactly what you imagine when you think of a warm and cozy breakfast. Perfectly fluffy and just the right amount of sweetness, I will constantly be craving them. My mom got the opportunity to order the “Philly Eggs Benny”, a huge fan favorite, and reasonably so. Being extremely pleased with the dish and describing her meal as “very fresh, warm, and savory” she would not hesitate to order it again.
With each bite, no matter what you order, you know it’s fresh. Longshore is committed to buying their produce locally, especially their eggs. “Primarily we use a vendor called FarmArt, that sources local produce and eggs from Lancaster, but we also use a series of farms in Vineland and Woodstown to source our eggs when possible,” said Esola. So it’s no wonder why their omelets and Benny’s (egg benedicts) are the most popular on the menu.
In addition to the delicious food, the service at Longshore is impeccable. Once I entered the restaurant, Sandy, the hostess, greeted us and brought us to an open table immediately, making sure the table was clean and offering to do whatever she could to make us comfortable. Moments later our waiter, Andrew, arrived, making friendly conversation, and attentively taking our orders.

The warm and welcoming ambiance is clear the moment you walk through the doors of Longshore as well as the pleasant aroma of flavorful meals. Over the past few months, Esola said, his team “has grown to be like a family.” They are all working together to make sure each customer, new or old, is more than pleased with their time at Longshore. You can find Daniel cleaning dishes, cooking, serving, or making sure he is doing anything he can to support both his coworkers and the restaurant. On weekends, the kitchen team even has just for fun wagers on which House Omelette will sell more.
