The Cherry Hill East girls’ basketball team has elevated their record to 6-6, already showcasing significant improvement midway through the season compared to the previous season’s 7-16, all thanks to junior Darby Chhabria. Number 35 on the court, Chhabria transferred from Camden Catholic High School this year, proving her key role on the court for the East team.
Darby Chhabria (‘25) has averaged 18 points per game and a total of 216 points in the season thus far. Not only is she currently leading the East team in stats yet is also dominating the conference in scoring.
With this impressive start to her East athletic career, Chhabria has been named NJ Dot Com’s Girls Basketball Player of the Week for the Olympic Conference- a noteworthy title earned above distinguished, competing athletes.
“Being named Olympic Conference Player of the Week was a really cool accomplishment because of how competitive our conference is. I think it is just a token to our entire program and the work we’ve all put in so far this year, that has allowed me to be recognized for my play,” says Chhabria.
Chhabria dedicates her feat to her teammates, following her transition and adjustment to the new team. She looks forward to the growth of their teamwork and outcomes.
She says, “I love our team and as time goes on, I have all the faith in the world that we will learn and improve as a unit, leading to a lot of success in our bright future.”
Anticipation is high as Chhabria’s presence in her now red jersey is awaited and performance is closely observed, expecting significant enhancements to continue for the East girls’ basketball team.
