Tonight, the Flyers were handed another difficult defeat Monday night at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens, losing 5 to 3. This time, it was the third period that gave the team difficulties with the Canadiens scoring two goals in a span of just 44 seconds to take a 3-2 lead to open the period. Robert Lang added on a fourth goal for the Canadiens, putting the Flyers in a deficit they could not overcome. The Canadiens then iced the game with an empty net goal with 35 seconds left. Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, both scored in addition to Gagne for the Flyers.
On a side note, the Flyers young and inexperienced defense is not doing well, due to injuries to key contributors Ryan Parent and Randy Jones. The team acquired Andrew Albert’s, a hulking six foot five inch defenseman from Boston to help their cause.
The Flyers will play Tuesday night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
