The Philadelphia Flyers started their season on Saturday night at the Wachovia Center against the New York Rangers. The Flyers spotted the New York Rangers a four-goal lead in the first period. But despite a valiant comeback effort, they could not overcome this early game lapse, and ended up losing 4-3.
Scott Hartnell, Simon Gagne, and Mike Richards scored the Flyers goals. The Flyers put forth a lackluster effort in that fateful first period. This was mainly due to the fact that it was the first actual game the Flyers played together this season. Unfortunately, it was the Rangers third game as a cohesive unit. The Flyers are back in action Monday night against the Montreal Canadians at home.
