This past weekend on Sunday December 21, Cherry Hill East hosted the College Coaches Skills Camp, a college baseball recruitment camp for potential college baseball players that are currently in high school.
In addition to showing off their skills, participants were given hands on instruction from the coaches on how to improve. Pitchers received 1 on 1 instruction with a coach while throwing approximately 40 pitches. All pitchers learned about proper pitching mechanics and a good mental approach. Hitters participated in many different hitting drills that took place in the Auxiliary Gym. After hitting, there was instruction on proper conditioning and weight lifting to maximize hitting performance.
Players from as far as Nebraska, Pittsburgh and Connecticut came to showcase their baseball skills in front of coaches from Creighton, George Mason, St. Joes, Villanova, Haverford, Lehigh, Montclair St and Temple. Approximately 50 athletes participated in the hitting portion of the camp while another 50 were in the pitching showcase.
