The Cherry Hill High School East Girls Varsity Volleyball team built their season on sharp serves, strategic spikes, and a bond that runs deeper than any playbook. The Cougars had a remarkable season and one of the best in the school’s history. The team finished with a 22-4 record, winning their division and finishing as the second seed in the group four NJSIAA playoffs. The Cougars fell short in the semifinal round though, losing a hard fought battle to Williamstown High School (30-1). However, our girls not only had the best record in school history, but they went undefeated for the first time against opponents in their conference, going 8-0.
While the Cougars did not achieve their ultimate goal, there were many positives to take away from this season. With a new Head Coach, Joe Feeney, and a revamped roster compared to last year. Many wondered how they would do this season will all the changes and they did not fail to disappoint.
“This season was amazing because we all grew and faced challenges together…the team’s adaptiveness really helped us succeed this season,” said Julianna Simpson (‘25).
A big part of the team’s success this year was setter, Aubree Mon (‘25). Mon was an unstoppable force on the offensive side of the net. She led the conference with 420 assists and set the single season record with 69 aces in a year.
“I’m really thankful to East Volleyball for giving me the opportunity to achieve this accomplishment and it’s really cool that my name can be in the same record books as the great players that came before me. Truly means alot to me to be up there with them,” said Aubree.
The Cougars started off the season on fire, winning their first 17 games. Their roster was remarkably well- rounded, with six players who had over 30 aces, and three players with over 100 digs. As a team, no one filled the stat box like the Cougars. The team led the whole conference in collective kills (550), blocks (64), digs (691), assists (507), and aces (286), showing themselves as the conference’s top contender.
Despite having four seniors who will not be back next season, namely Aubree, the team is in good hands with Leela Mon (‘27) who looks to fill in her sister’s shoes. Mon had a great season with 190 digs. Jordan Walker (‘28), Madison James (‘28), and Lindsey Ngu (‘28) all sought varsity playing time this year and will prepare to make an even bigger impact in years to come.
“I know they’re all gonna do great things in their future at East. They have all already shown signs of brightness,” said Simpson.
The season ended earlier than everyone would have wished, but there’s no arguing that the Cougars had an amazing season that made a statement.
