Carly Drumm (‘22) has grown up with soccer ever since the ripe age of 2. She is now excited to announce her commitment to Fairleigh Dickinson University, where she will be furthering her academic (nursing) and soccer career.
For as long as she can remember, Drumm has been surrounded by the sport. This year marks her 16th year playing! Her family has provided monumental support to her throughout her soccer career.
“My dad has always been my coach from my first days of soccer, up until this past year when I switched teams. I have older siblings who also played soccer and I would go to their practices and games running around the fields and kicking a ball which is what got me into the sport I still love and play today.”, reminisced Drumm.
If you had asked her earlier, she wouldn’t have necessarily seen herself continuing with soccer in college. However, she had college coaches reach out to her in her junior year, when she realized how much she wants to continue playing it at the next level.
The recruiting process was a long, but very easy decision for Drumm. Her club team attended a number of college showcase tournaments, which is where she first met Farleigh Dickinson’s soccer coach. After the tournament ended, Drumm received an invitation to tour the school’s campus and learn more about the soccer program. It was like a ‘love at first sight moment for her.
“In early December, I went for an overnight visit at FDU where I got to hang out with players on the team and see what it was like to be on campus. That really helped me see that FDU was the right school for me”, said Drumm.
Even though she’ll be saying her final farewells to East soon, Drumm will always cherish the memories she made here. Starting on Varsity her freshman year and playing alongside her sister for 3 years was really special to her. The East vs. West games is also something she’ll always remember.
Drumm is very much looking forward to her career as a Knight. We can’t wait to watch her thrive at college.
