The Cougars lost to the Williamstown Braves in their season opener, 54-7. The Cougars jumped out to an early lead, after a 66 yard touchdown pass from Alex Kramer (’13) to Nick Phelan (’13), coupled with an extra point gave East a 7-6 lead less than five minutes into the game. The Braves, ranked fourth in South Jersey by the Philadelphia Inquirer, dominated from that point on, scoring 27 more points just in the first half, leaving the score 33-7 at the end of the first half.
Williamstown would score 21 more points in the third quarter to make the score 54-7. East had a chance to score late in the fourth quarter, however, a fumble inside the Williamstown ten yard-line gave the ball back to Williamstown, and the game ended 54-7.
Next Saturday, the Cougars will play at Pennsauken at noon.
