The Cherry Hill East Boys Basketball Team defeated Timber Creek 48-45. Decked out in red and white, the Cougars pulled through and won, making the team’s record 6-4.

Carl Gibson (‘19) gathered 25 points, the most on the team today.

“It was a tough game, with the score going back and forth, but East came back in the end and won,” said one of the team managers, Ellie Weinberg (‘19).

As the game commenced, Timber Creek went on a run, winning the jump-ball and earning the first points. However, it didn’t take long for the Cougars to climb back. The first quarter ceased with a score of 12-9 in favor of East.

Throughout the second quarter, the lead changed almost every basket. With new players entering the game, the first half concluded with Timber Creek leading 24-23.

During halftime, East’s cheer-leading squad fascinated the crowd with their performance. The East boys practiced more to acquire their win in the half going forward.

As the second half commenced, East took control, scoring often. The third quarter ended with East ahead, 34-32.

The fourth quarter was a nail-biter for the fans at the game. Both teams managed to acquire the same score. With ten seconds remaining in the game, Gibson drained a jump shot for the game winner and made an extra point at the foul line. East left in triumph with a score of 48-45.

“The Cougars are ready to take on Washington Township, away on Saturday,” said Weinberg.
