It has been an exciting season for Cherry Hill East Boys Basketball team, who beat Pleasantville High School on January 4 in a regular season matchup. The undefeated Cougars secured their eighth win of the season, outscoring Pleasantville (1-5), 65-40 which advanced their record to 8-0.
Shooting 42% from the field, 17% from behind the arc, and 83% from the free throw line, are all key statistics that contributed to the Cougars big win.
The game’s top contributors include starters Jacob Jones (‘25), Chris Delgado (‘26), Noahm Marciano (‘26), Chris Abreu (‘27), and Jamieson Young (‘28) who took control of the floor on the offensive and defensive end throughout the well-played game.
The confident Cougars started strong winning the first quarter 18-6 and the second quarter 17-10 with a solid half-time score of 35-16. Building on their early momentum, East kept up their hard work and intensity through the stretch of the game which ultimately earned them their eighth win on the season.
Marciano led all scorers with 16 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and one steal. Abreu, Delgado, and Jones each scored 10 points, with Abreu also racking up 12 rebounds. To add on, Young and Justin Farber (‘27) contributed 9 and 5 points, respectively, while Ryan Olson (‘26) and Kobe Medini (‘25) combined for 4 points.
Despite only having two returning starters, Jones and Delgado, the team’s new additions blended nicely into the line up. Their strong chemistry has led to their extraordinary performances on the court.
“The team is playing well together and everybody is understanding what they need to do for team success. We are 8-0 because everyone is playing their role and carrying out assignments on and off the floor with energy from everywhere,” said Farber.
Although East is on an eight game winning streak, they have some tough games along the road.
“I think our toughest games are all the conference games, the teams that have been playing us for years and know our style of play. [However], we try to treat every one team, no matter if they’re undefeated or haven’t won a game, in the same way,” said Delgado.
East hopes to uphold their undefeated record as they play in some of their toughest upcoming conference match-ups, against Cherokee and Moorestown.
