Tonight the Cherry Hill East Varsity basketball team kicked off their season against Lenape. The stadium was packed and extremely loud, thanks to the high-spirited Countrymen.
The Cougars started the game out sloppy, falling behind to Lenape early on. East had trouble finding the opportunity to shoot three’s, due to the impressive perimeter defense of Lenape.
Going into halftime, Lenape hit a three-point buzzer beater, giving them a 15 point lead.
After halftime, East found help off the bench from Edou Zaken (’11), who contributed seven points.
Lenape continued to play hard on both offense and defense, never letting the Cougars start a run. Lenape also set the pace for the remaining minutes of the game, beating East, 50 to 37.
East’s next game will be on Monday against Bishop Eustace at 7:00.
