The long-awaited album Vultures by the artist formerly known as Kanye West, now Ye, was released on Friday, February 9, 2024. This album was pushed back multiple times, as explained in the February print issue. Ye dropped the album and there is a lot to say about it. First of all, Ty Dolla $ign is featured on the entire album and he hasn´t released music since 2021. The album has a very intense feel. Overall I would say Ty Dolla $ign carries the album. Some of the songs are more emotional and Ty Dolla $ign does a better job expressing those emotions while Ye sounds more depressing and boring. It was hinted that there would be many samples from other artists on this album. Still, after doing further research it looks like all those people backed out due to Ye´s reputation, beliefs, and just overall personality. The actual music on the album is very loud which is where that intenseness comes from. Instead of relying on his vocals which he has proved to be impressive multiple times. He relies on loud background music. Ye also states that Vultures 2 and 3 are still coming and that this is just the beginning. The only song that stood out to me was Carnival. I thought the lyrics were some of his better ones and that the music itself sounded good. Overall as someone who is a huge fan of The College Dropout, Ye, The Life of Pablo, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, this album didn´t even compare. You most likely will not be a fan of his new album if you enjoyed his old stuff.
