Meghan Trainor initiates her “comeback” to the music industry
There is “No” doubt that Meghan Trainor has made her comeback in the music industry. With her hit new album “Takin’ it Back,” and viral TikTok presence, it is no surprise that her fan base has grown tremendously over the past year.
Trainor was first put into the spotlight after her second album, “Title,” debuted in 2015. “All About That Bass,” her debut single, spent eight weeks at number one in the United States. At just 21, Trainor was nominated for two Grammys: Record of the Year and Song of the Year. Other popular songs in this album include “Dear Future Husband,” “Lips Are Movin,” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” (featuring John Legend).
Following this success, Trainor released her third album, “Thank You,” in 2016. In the United States, “Thank You” debuted at number three on the Billboard 200 during its first week. “No,” “Me Too,” and “Dance Like Yo Daddy,” are other popular songs on this album. Similar to “Title,” the songs on “Thank You” are upbeat, body-positive, and lighthearted. Trainor’s use of fun and goofy lyrics makes her unique from other artists.
Despite her tremendous success with “Title” and “Thank You,” Trainor did not release another album until 2020, when she released “Treat Myself.” “Treat Myself” was released on January 31, 2020. Just two months before the pandemic, this album had little success. It debuted at number 25 on the US Billboard 200 and spent only three weeks on the chart. Her single “No Excuses” peaked at number 46 on the US Billboard Hot 100, low compared to “All About That Bass,” and “Me Too.”
After a two-year hiatus, Trainor is back to her previous glory. Prior to the release of her new album “Takin’ It Back” in October 2022, Trainor promoted it all over TikTok. Her single “Made You Look” quickly gained popularity on the app and a dance to the song went viral. “Made You Look” became her first single since 2016 to enter the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, and her first top-10 single in the United Kingdom in seven years. The empowering single is reminiscent of “Title” and “Thank You,” and has a nostalgic feel.
The music industry welcomes back Meghan Trainor. Fans are eager to see what she will bring to the future and are happy to see her back in the spotlight again. Trainor has “No Excuses” for not releasing great music soon!
