Julia Roberts and George Clooney reunite in ‘Ticket to Paradise’
‘Ticket to Paradise’ is a new, romantic comedy movie directed by Ol Parker. Ol Parker previously directed the popular 2018 film ‘Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again’. ‘Ticket to Paradise’ stars former co-actors Julia Roberts and George Clooney. This film reunites the duo who worked together in past films such as ‘Confessions of a Dangerous Mind,’ ‘Money Monster,’ ‘Ocean’s Eleven,’ and ‘Oceans Twelve.’
Roberts, playing Georgia Cotton, and Clooney, playing David Cotton, were divorced parents who tried to stop their daughter Lily Cotton, played by Kaitlyn Dever, from marrying a man she had just met in Bali. Lily was on vacation in Bali with her friend, Wren Buttler, played by Billie Lourd. Lily met Gede, played by Maxime Bouttier, in Bali and fell in love with him. When the two decided to get married, Lily’s parents immediately disapproved because they didn’t want her to throw away her career to get married to someone she had just met. Georgia and Paul arranged a flight to Bali to try and stop Lily from marrying Gede. Turns out that the pilot on the flight was Georgia’s boyfriend, Paul, played by Lucas Bravo. Throughout their vacation, Georgia and David attempted to rekindle their friendship as they aimed to stop Lily from getting married. Georgia and David strived to ruin the wedding by stealing the rings. Lily ended up finding out about this scheme, and her parents decided to give Lily and Gede their blessing to get married. Paul surprised Georgia by showing up in Bali and proposing, which Georgia declined because she was beginning to re-fall in love with David. Georgia and David expressed a romantic connection on the day of Lily and Gede’s wedding. Georgia and David ended up falling in love and staying together in Bali with their daughter and Gede.
This film reconciled the friendship between Roberts and Clooney once again. Sara Donnellan from US Magazine explains how Clooney “called Roberts after reading the script to ask if she was going to sign on to the film. ‘She goes, ‘Are you going to do it?’ and I said, ‘Yeah, if you do it.’ So, it was just one of those very lucky things,’ he said.”
Roberts struggled while on set, filming ‘Ticket to Paradise.’ Clooney brought his wife, Amal Clooney, and their 5-year-old twins, Ella and Alexander, to Bali while filming the movie. On the other hand, Roberts didn’t have any family with her. Clooney gladly helped Roberts through the tough separation between her and her family. Roberts explained how “we were in a bubble, and it’s the longest [she’s] ever been away from [her] family. [She doesn’t] think [she has] spent that much time by [herself] since [she] was 25,” Sara Donnellan wrote in the US Magazine.
Ol Parker helped bring Roberts and Clooney’s friendship back together through his film, ‘Ticket to Paradise.’ The two iconic actors have now been in 6 films together and continue to be good friends and partners through their work.
