The biggest night in fashion is hosted every year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. This magical night is known as the Met Gala. The Met Gala is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. All of the “it” celebrities can be seen at this prestigious event, showcasing their designer gowns and suits to support the museum’s Costume Institute.

This year, the Met Gala will be hosted on May 1, 2023. The Met Gala is hosted every year on the first Monday of May. This tradition had been alive since the Met Gala first began in 1948. It will be available to watch at 6 p.m. EST on Vogue’s website.

Every year celebrities dress according to the theme which changes annually. The theme this year is ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty,’ which will be honoring Karl Lagerfeld. Lagerfeld is a world renowned fashion designer who passed away in 2019 due to cancer. He is best known for his work with Chanel, Fendi, and Karl Lagerfeld, his personal brand.

Celebrities are allowed to interpret this theme however they choose, and they are encouraged to use their creativity. However, it is hoped that the celebrities attending will wear the brands that Lagerfeld was associated with to honor his memory.

In addition to this, celebrities are encouraged to wear different styles that Lagerfeld would have approved and appreciated. Such styles include modern and present styles. Lagerfeld himself said that through his designs he hopes to continue “to embrace the present and invent the future.”

Celebrities will not only be walking the famous Met steps, but will be helping to lead the event. A few selected celebrities were chosen to be co-chairs to help host the special night. Behind the scenes, the Met Gala co-chairs help arrange the guest list, the menu for the night, and much more to make the night one to remember. The chosen co-chairs for the night include pop singer, Dua Lipa, actresses, Michaela Coel and Penelope Cruz and lastly, tennis player, Roger Federer.

The event will be filled with celebrities, fashion, and grand decor. Overall, this year’s Met Gala will be one that should not be missed.
