I tried the TikTok-viral Bloom Nutrition green powder for 30 days to see if it is actually effective.
For background, Bloom Nutrition is a brand that makes supplemental health products such as green juice powders, pre-workout powders, and energy drinks. Green powders are a dietary supplement that helps people get their daily intake of vitamins. Due to its nutritious ingredients, supposed health benefits, and most importantly, its promotion from TikTok celebrities, Bloom has taken over the internet as the new health fad. Many were influenced to buy this product because it promises benefits such as boosting immunity, promoting digestion, increasing metabolism, and possibly aiding in weight loss. The most popular benefit that draws most customers from TikTok seems to be that it reduces bloating.
30 days ago, I bought a container of Bloom’s strawberry kiwi flavored green powder from Target for $29.99. The container comes with a serving-size scooper and instructions for mixing with water. To start off, the color of the greens goes from a light to dark green when mixed with water. The strawberry and wifi flavor was definitely strong but not too sugary, which I really liked. It did not taste grassy like many other green powders may; it was more of a sweet candy flavor. The only issue I found with the powder was that it is difficult to completely dissolve in water, so when mixing it, I suggest using a frother or mixer cup. The texture of the solution is as smooth as water, although it does look grainy up close. Overall, on a scale of one to ten, I would give the taste an eight.
Now, on to my opinion on whether Bloom Nutrition actually provides results, specifically with debloating. Although I was skeptical at first because I didn’t believe a green powder could actually reduce bloating, I noticed a difference in the way I looked and felt after eating big meals. I drank one scoop of bloom every night after a full day of eating, and I believe that Bloom’s green powder not only physically made my bloating decrease, but also allowed me to not feel so full after eating. I mainly noticed that my stomach looked flatter faster, contrary to its usual bloat by the end of the night.
Although I may think I can see differences, I know that Bloom Nutrition has not yet been FDA evaluated on its benefits. It is possible Bloom’s green powder is a placebo effect, and my bloating is just decreasing due to the water I am drinking. Water is proven to be one of the most effective ways in de-bloating, so when people are drinking more water than normal because they want to drink Bloom greens, it’s possible that it’s just their water consumption aiding in the debloat.
Personally, due to the price and the unconfirmed benefits of drinking Bloom greens and superfoods, I would not recommend drinking this. Although it tastes good and is a great way to up your water intake, for almost $30 and not proven by professionals, I do not think it is a worthwhile purchase.
