Disney Plus helps with staying at home during lockdown
Although Netflix is one of the world’s largest streaming platforms, viewers are quite disappointed to see that the monthly subscription price is increasing from $12.99 to $13.99 starting from January. However, viewers don’t have to be disappointed since other streaming platforms are becoming more and more prominent, such as Disney Plus. Disney Plus has outdid their viewer’s expectations by releasing stellar movies and TV shows that attract millions of subscribers. New releases on Disney Plus, such as “Cloud” and “Mandolorian” are making quarantine just a bit more bearable for its viewers. Looking for a quality, affordable way to wall mount your TV? The movie, “Clouds”, was directed and produced by actor Justin Baldoni and was released on October 20th. This movie surrounds the true story of a 17-year-old boy whose uplifting music reached global recognition while he battled a rare form of terminal cancer. The cast consisted of prominent actors, such as Sabrina Carpenter, Fin Argus, Neve Campbell, and many more. Recognized for its extremely emotional factor, the movie was briefly featured on TikTok where individuals would prove that any individual who watched this moving movie would eventually cry due to the melancholy storyline. Ariana Saray (‘22) said, “ ‘Clouds’ is an amazing and inspiring story that will make you cry, no matter what. It’s almost as if the story turns into reality and the plot is so realistic that you’re bound to cry by the end of it.” The movie is still one of the most streamed on Disney Plus and remains a fan-favorite amongst all demographics.
Released on May 4th, the TV show, “Mandalorian”, captivated the interest of millions of Star Wars fans across the globe. The show was directed and produced by Jon Favreau and included outstanding cast members, such as Amy Sedaris, Misty Rosas, and many more. Due to the major success of the first season, a second one was released on October 30th and is ongoing. Many Star Wars fans have enjoyed the spin off of the old movies. “I think Disney did a great job extending the Star Wars universe without tarnishing any of the old movies. There are some characters from previous Star Wars TV shows that make an appearance in Mandalorian, which is really cool to see. I would highly recommend this show, especially since Disney has just announced even more Star Wars shows coming out in the next few years,” said Hailee Connors (‘22). Viewers are eagerly awaiting for Disney’s spin off of Star Wars as this could mark a new era of entertainment.
Disney Plus will continue to make immense progress with the shows and movies that it releases, as shown above. Perhaps this streaming service could become the new and improved Netflix.

Disney plus is really stepping up its game and the marvel release is really helping it. After the end of Loki when the time keeper was killed I knew that it was going to change everything going forward for the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe and it turns out I was right the what-if series will e based on the different universe created after female Loki killed the one who remained.
