Today I met a baby dinosaur. The little creature from millions of years past walked up to me in a prehistoric world in which I was fully immersed. I was teleported to this whole new world, made possible through the Apple Vision Pro. And while I glimpsed into the past, the future of technology is here today.
The Apple Vision Pro is a new virtual reality product made by Apple. It is a headset that merges the real world and digital world into one. The new Apple product was released to the public on February 2. The Apple Vision Pro is a spatial computer, allowing the user to explore apps and other content through their eyes, hands, and voice. The technology tracks eye movements, allowing different buttons to light up. Once a button is highlighted, the user can tap their fingers to click on the icon.
The Apple Vision Pro allows the user to connect to their Apple ID. This allows the user to connect to their favorite apps. One could make a call, text, watch a show, and play chess all while wearing the Apple Vision Pro.
In addition to the apps connected to the user’s Apple ID, the vision pro has over 600 apps for the Apple Vision Pro. Many of these apps were developed to provide an immersive experience. Zillow, the real estate company, is one example of an app that provides immersive experiences. While doing a house tour, one is completely immersed in the home. The tour on the vision pro includes a 360 atmosphere as if the user was in the home. In addition to Zillow, Disney+ also has an immersive feature. Disney+ allows the viewer to watch any show or movie from one of the immersive locations. For example, I was able to watch the 3D movie of Aladdin while sitting in the Disney+ movie theater. The theater wrapped fully around me and reacted when I pressed play by dimming the lights.
An immersive app included in the Apple Vision Pro is Encounter Dinosaurs. This experience enabled me to transport myself to a prehistoric world and interact with dinosaurs. The life-like dinosaur is able to react to motion. If you sit down, the dinosaur peers its head down to track your movements. If you back away, it follows you. Encounter Dinosaurs is an immersive experience that allows the user to teleport to the past.
The Apple Vision Pro is a virtual reality headset that has the ability to virtually transcend you to another time and place. The vision pro has ample opportunities for different parts of our society. From education, to health, to travel, to entertainment, and more, the Apple Vision Pro is the future of technology.
