In a letter to the Cherry Hill High School East community, Superintendent Dr. Kwame Morton announced that he has recommended Daniel Finkle, who has been principal of Delran High School for the past 12 years, to serve as the new East principal. A committee consisting of East faculty members and Central Administrators presented Morton with two finalists for the role, of which Finkle was ultimately selected. On May 28, the Cherry Hill Board of Education will vote on whether to appoint him to the role.
In the time since Dr. Dennis Perry (current principal of East) announced that he would retire effective September 1, 2024, several committees of students, staff, and community members evaluated candidates that had applied for the role. The decision process involved multiple rounds of interviews, surveys, and visits by candidates to East’s campus. Assuming the Board of Education confirms Finkle on Tuesday, the transition process will begin quickly in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth change in leadership.
