Kirsten Dunst will star in Miu Miu’s (Prada’s younger sister brand) Spring-Summer 2008 ad campaign. Other celebrities in other ads include:
– Victoria Beckham as the star of Marc Jacob’s Spring/Summer 2008 ad campaign. It is going to be interesting to see her not as her glamorous self but as something tough and raw. The campaign depicts Victoria amid giant Marc Jacobs gift boxes and shopping bags, an allusion to the marketing of celebrities.
– David Beckham is to be the global face of Giorgio Armani underwear. David Beckham’s ad campaign will be out in January and Armani will launch David Beckham’s underwear line in the United States next February. I know a lot of people are excited to see that!
– Matthew McConaughey is set to be the face of Dolce and Gabbana fragrances
– Patrick Dempsey is rumored to be making an appearance in the Versace campaign.
– TopShop‘s first US store, set to open at 478 Broadway in New York’s SoHo, is to open next year- which is soon since its December already!
– Roberto Cavalli revealed the looks that he created for the Spice Girls stage outfits. The looks are tailored tuxedos in silver and black, metallic silver uniforms, bright jumpsuits, leather corsets and dresses adorned with feathers and Swarovski crystals. Way to shine at the comeback tour!
– It has been reported that Scandinavian design legend Marimekko will work with H&M! The collections for women and children include printed tunics, dresses and hats. Marimekko for H&M hits stores in April — I hope that they will have this at Cherry Hill Mall!
– I cannot wait until the documentary Lagerfeld Confidential, which followed Karl Lagerfeld behind the scenes working at Chanel, comes out. It arrived this past October but it is said to be released on DVD and TV in 2008.
– Tiffany & Co. has become involved with eyewear for the first time in its 170-year history.
– As if Heidi Montag and Lauren Conrad needed more drama, it has been confirmed that Heidi will be working with the clothing chain Anchor Blue in Los Angeles to create her clothing line “Heidiwood”. Heidi’s line will be “very price-range oriented” whereas Lauren’s line can be bought for prices over $100. Heidi’s line will also be more girly with bows, etc so it will be interesting to see how this turns out.
– Heidi Klum wore a gold dress during the runway show of the premiere episode of Project Runway. Didn’t that gold fabric seem familiar? Well it should considering the fact that Runway’s season 2 winner Chloe Dao, designed it. The appropriately named Heidi dress — which costs $224 — is also available in fuchsia silk satin at Dao’s Houston boutique Lot 8.
– The Erin Fetherston GO collection is now available at Target. There, you can find her girly, flirty collection with bows hearts and ruffles.
Remember that the Victoria’s Secret fashion show is Dec 4th, at 10pm ET/PT on CBS. They always do over-the-top, amazingly decorated shows so I can’t wait! Also, the Spice Girls, will.i.am, and Seal will be performing (possibly with wife Heidi Klum.)
Fashion for Thought:
What’s the most challenging part about being a judge on Project Runway?
Having people on the street telling me I’m mean. If these designers think I’m tough, try reading a review from Suzy [Menkes], WWD or the Times.
