On Wednesday, December 1, the World Awareness Club (WAC) held its first meeting of the school year. WAC is a club devoted to helping others and raising money to donate to various causes on local, national and international levels.
At the meeting, new and returning members elected new officers for the 2010-2011 school year. President Jamie Silverberg (’12) spoke about what the club’s goals are and explained that its first project will be donating to a local charity, soon to be determined.
“Because it’s the holiday time, we are going to start with the community and gradually work our way to international aid,” explained Samara Levin (’12), club member.
The club also hopes to visit a soup kitchen at some point this year to truly interact with and help people in need directly.
“By being a part of World Awareness, I feel like I’m making a difference, “ said Levin.
WAC will also be holding a bake sale on Tuesday, December 7; the money raised will be put towards its next project.
