PODCAST: The impact of a sports injury
Ava Crawley (’25), Kiran Muttathil (’23), and Jenna McGovern (’24) talk about how tearing their ACL has left a lasting impact on their lives. They discuss their experiences with their injury, obstacles they face, how it’s changed them so far, and how it affects their bodies, mental health, and college application processes. From the moment it happens to pre-hab, rehab, and even years after recovery the injury sticks with you. Despite sports being the main cause, most athletes do as much as they can to recover in time for their next season because of how much sports mean to them. Crawley, Muttathil, and McGovern express the importance of talking to people about your injury and getting the opportunity to relate to others who have been in the same boat. Though it is certainly one long, and tough recovery, having people around is a greater help than one could imagine.
