On Thursday October 23rd, Cherry Hill East’s Varsity basketball team was honored by the New Jersey State Senate in recognition for Brad Hennefer.The Joint Legislative Resolution presented to each player and coach reads as follows:
JOINT LEGISLATIVE RESOLUTION
By Senator SWEENEY, Assemblymen BURZICHELLI and FISHER, Senator ADLER, Assemblyman GREENWALD and Assemblywoman LAMPITT

WHERAS, The Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey are pleased to honor and salute the members and coaches of the Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team in recognition of their outstanding efforts in the sport of basketball, as well as in establishing an environment that promotes understanding and acceptance; and,

WHERAS, The Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team includes senior Brad Hennefer, an inspiring young man who is the only varsity basketball player in the nation with Down Syndrome, and he is embraced by his coaches and teammates alike for his unwavering commitment and athletic excellence as a three-point specialist; and,

WHERAS, The members of the Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team, who performed with praiseworthy determination throughout their remarkable season, are: Drew Belinsky, Ben Gerstein, Logan Marro, Seth Friedman, Corey Isdaner, Jay Gorchow, Greg Middleman, Gavin Botel, Lee Dossick, Dave Ravitz, Chris Santo, Brad Hennefer, Andrew Nahum, George Shukwueze, Alex Saltzburg, Michael Sadowsky, Alex Pearl, Dereck Satchell, Zack Rosenblatt, Dan Melleby, Derrick Ray, Ido Zaken, Sam Rose, and Stacey Upshaw; and,

WHERAS, The Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team has been superbly guided by Head Coach John J. Valore and Assistant Coaches, Michael Melograna and Dave Quinn; and,

WHERAS, The Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team stands as a beacon of the heights to which inclusion and teamwork can aspire and is an exceptional example of the success possible through the selfless efforts of concerned and dedicated people; and,

WHERAS, Their talent and exemplary efforts in seeking and achieving athletic excellence have earned for the members and coaches of the Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team the respect and admiration of the New Jersey Legislature and the people of this state; now, therefore,

Be It Resolved by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey:

That this Legislature hereby honors and salutes the Cherry Hill High School East Varsity Boys Basketball Team, and commends the Team’s players and coaches for their exceptional efforts and competitive spirit as evidenced by their accomplishments; and,

Be It Further Resolved, That a duly authenticated copy of this resolution be signed by the Senate President and the Assembly Speaker and attested by the Senate Secretary and the Assembly Clerk…
