Mr. East Preview
This year, Mr. East – one of the most popular events at East that takes place during the academic year – is happening on April 23rd at 7:00 pm. The show is going to be pre-recorded and live streamed on Facebook Live. Every year, there are four overall chair people selected and two dance captains in total. The four overall chairs are Rachel Cassway, Caitlin Cepeda, Aubrey Demurjian, and Julia Piotrowski. The two dance chairs are Carly Fowler and Melissa Shapiro.
Mrs. Radbill, the Student Government Association Advisor, said, “Chairpeople are so important to Mr. East because they run the show in [different] ways, [as] the show is planned around many of their ideas.”
Typically, there are about twenty Mr. East applicants who strive to earn the title. However, only eight participants were selected this year. The eight contestants are Mason Bulicki, Tyler Burke, Pete Cuddihy, Jordan Grossman, Seth Hornstein, Tyler Semon, Peter Slattery, and Anish Suresh. Mrs. Radbill said, “The gentlemen we chose have a wide variety of abilities and talents.” Mr. East is special because each contestant has his own talent that he brings to the table that he must showcase to the judges in order to move up and compete. The price is free this year since the show is going to be livestreamed on Facebook. Last year, there were links to pandemic relief organizations that people could donate to. However, this year, a link to donate to the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be advertised during the show. Although Mr. East cannot happen in person this year, it is important to support this East tradition and viewers are guaranteed to enjoy themselves and laugh the night away.
