Today in third period lunch on Monday, November 23, 2009, four contestants (one from each grade) participated in the “Lemonade Drinking Contest” as a part of Spirit Week. The contestants, Braheme Days (’13), Jesse Gold (’12), Becca Wood (’11), and Brandon Muller (’10), were required to peel and eat two lemons, swallow a cup of sugar, chug a 16.9 ounce bottle of water, and then mix it all up inside their bodies by doing five jumping jacks. Early on in the competition, Days looked as if he was going to win the competition and secure a victory for the freshman. But, Days had difficulty swallowing down all of the lemonade mush in his mouth, allowing Gold and Muller to storm past Days. In the end, Gold took second place for the sophomores while Muller won the contest for the seniors.
“I was eating the first lemon by bits and then I heard [Days] finished both of his, so I shoved the second one down my throat. When I got to the water bottle, I squeezed it down my throat and before I knew it, I was done as winner,” said Muller.
Eventually, Days was able to get down everything in his mouth, leaving the lone female participant, Wood, as the last place finisher. By the time Days was crowned as the third place winner, Wood had not even begun the water bottle drinking portion of the competition. “I lost on purpose because I didn’t want to do no jumping jacks at the end,”said Wood, trying to defend her fourth place performance.
The official finish of the competition is below:
1st Place: Brandon Muller (’10)
2nd Place: Jesse Gold (’12)
3rd Place: Braheme Days (’13)
4th Place: Becca Wood (’11)
