Did you know that 19 different languages are spoken in the homes of the Class of 2013?
Studies show a plethora of benefits of bilingualism. Bilingualism affects cognitive processes, often improving the brain’s ability to focus, manage conflict, and switch between tasks. Bilingualism has also been shown to protect against the decline in cognitive function that often comes with aging. These benefits have been observed in individuals who are bilingual from a young age as well as in those who learn new languages later in life; so it’s never too late to learn a new language from one of your classmates!
