Lab Theatre presented Give and Take on October 14th and 15th.
“Lab Theatre is designed to introduce freshmen and some sophomores to the world of Cherry Hill East Theater,” said Mr. Weaver, who is in charge of the theater department at East.
Give and Take is a series of nine vignettes, or mini-plays, set all around the world. “Give and Take is a delightful play about people who give and want to make the world a better place, and people who just take, take, take…” said Weaver.
Give and Take was humorous, but also had an important lesson. “Are you a person who gives? Or a person who takes?” The play demonstrated how much better it is to be a giver.
“[The play] is a good mixture of comedy and seriousness,” said Sumayyah Jones (’15), who attended the show on Friday night. Ariel Sabatini (’15) agreed. “I’ve never seen anything like it,” she said.
Of the nine vignettes, seven were directed by students. Mr. Musimeci and Mr. Weaver each directed one.
Madeleine Oppenheim (’15), who played the Lion in Kalulu and the Money Farm, said, “You need a lot of preparation, a lot of motivation [to be a part of Lab Theatre]. All the practice definitely was worth it. It was so much fun and we’re all one big happy family.”
