Class of 2011’s Junior Prom will take place on Saturday, May 1 at 6:30 pm at the Collingswood Ballroom in Collingswood, New Jersey.
Tickets for the dance are being sold from April 5 to April 21 for $70 each. Any junior can attend and is allowed to bring a date in any grade, or from any school.
The theme of the night, thought of by Andrew Athias (’11) is “11:11 Make a Wish” because the juniors are the class of 2011 and in eleventh grade. The class also decided to donate part of the ticket sales to the Make a Wish Foundation.
“By donating to this foundation, the class is united in showing support for a worthy cause,” said Avra Bossov (’11), the Junior Class President. “It’s nice to be able to do something so simple for the betterment of the community.”
The juniors have a lot to look forward to especially since this is their first dance outside of East.
“I am really excited to go to the Collingswood Ballroom because it is so beautiful inside,” said Maria Novick (’11), Junior Class Vice President.
So far, the junior class student government has been working tirelessly on the dance decorations.
“There are going to be stars on the ceiling and everything is black and white themed,” said Novick.
The class also decided to have a t-shirt contest for the prom shirt and who ever wins gets a free ticket. They are still in the process of choosing the winner.
“Many of the possible designs include an alarm clock with 11:11 on it,” said Novick.
“They are going to be simple, yet classy”, said Jason Warren (’11), Junior Class Vice President. “We don’t want too much going on there.”
Many juniors are excited for prom and to dance all night with their friends.
“I think the most important aspect of prom is simply having students gyrate with their fellow classmates,” said Matt Bogdonoff (’11), Junior Class Vice President.
“Everybody is going to have the best night of their lives,” said Warren. “The DJ is going to be great, the room is going to be great, and everybody is going to look great.”
