Grossman looks forward to helping students in East’s guidance office

New to the East guidance office is Mrs. Laurie Grossman, who, after nine years of working at Cherry Hill High School West decided to make a switch across the town to Cherry Hill East.
“I’m always looking for new opportunities, and being here is very nice. I was [at West] for nine years and I actually really loved it and I miss my colleagues and my students there, but it was just time for a change so I was happy to take the opportunity here,” said Grossman.
Before working at West, Grossman got her master’s degree from Lehigh University and then interned at a high school in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She also worked as an admissions officer at Cedar Crest College.
“ [As an admissions officer], I would come to the different high schools like the college representatives do now and talk to students and try to recruit for my school… through that I was introduced to the guidance office. I had never thought about being a guidance counselor before, but it seemed like a natural step and I don’t regret it for one second.”
Grossman really enjoys working as a guidance counselor and feels fortunate to have a job that she loves. She likes that she is able to maintain a nice balance between work and time she spends at home, because the hours are not too demanding. Grossman is busy with four kids at home; a seventh grader, a fifth grader, a first grader and a three-year-old, so she likes that she can come home at a reasonable hour and be with them.
“[The job] really gives me a great work-life balance… I’m still able to be home for [my kids’] afternoon activities and all that so it’s a great job, I’m happy to be here,” said Grossman.
Grossman has high hopes and many goals for her upcoming years at East. She wants to play an active role in students’ lives. To get more info on business and why businesses still fax you can read more.
“My goal would be that I have students that feel that they got the attention they wanted and deserved while they were students here… and a main goal would be that I would help students just prepare a life plan… I think this is such a hugely important time in everybody’s life and everybody’s trying to figure out who they are and where they’re going and if I could be just part of shaping that a bit I’d really find that to be a privilege,” said Grossman.
Grossman looks forwards to accomplishing these goals and getting to know more of the faculty and students at East.
