East Students participate in the various games found at each of the booths

Whether you want to fly into outer space or get the opportunity to play in Major League Baseball, Cherry Hill East students have brought it all to the school’s games this year. With Spirit Week in full force, East students have created decorative booths and intricate games to model the theme this year, candy.

The Freshmen Class chose to use the candy bar Cow Tales as their main canvas for all things regarding Spirit Week, including the booth. Therefore, the Freshman Class created an intricate game to model their overarching farm and animal theme. The freshmen created a runway with a cow at the end, asking players to roll a small pool ball down the runway and into the cow’s open mouth. If the ball goes into the cow’s mouth, players win the prize of receiving a cow tale candy bar.

Molly Phillips (‘20), Freshman Class Representative, said, “We have had mostly positive results because a lot of people enjoy the game and come to play it over and over again.”

The Sophomore class chose to center their attention around all different types of heroes throughout the world, as they chose their candy to be Life Savers. Throughout their booth, sophomores added doctors, soldiers, lifeguards, and multiple other heroes that should be commemorated for their services. The game takes a different approach as the sophomores created a ring toss where one can win a life saver if they land on “You’re a Lifesaver”.

“We wanted to try something new,” said Sophomore Class President, Lucas Semon (‘19). “A lot of the games are so similar, so we thought ring toss would be a cool idea.”

The Junior Class chose to focus on baseball as an overarching theme for the candy picked, Baby Ruth. The Junior Class implemented the element of turning their booth around to create the look of a baseball dugout. The juniors also included components, such as a hall of fame and a framed East sports jersey from years prior. The game centered around baseball by specializing the commonly known game, dizzy bat.

“We were aiming to take a typical game known as dizzy bat and transform it into our theme of baseball by having students throw baseballs into a Gatorade container,” said Junior Class Vice President Isabella Camissa (‘18).

The seniors were out of this world when they chose to focus on the the theme of outer space with the candy Milky Way. The Senior Class created a booth with UFO’s, all of the planets in the solar system, and of course the Milky Way. The Senior Class created a game where students shoot plastic rockets and try to hit one of the nine hanging planets. If players have success, they will be given a candy prize.

With the immense amount of school pride brought about in students, the booths and the games do not fail to bring about amusement in East’s students and faculty alike.
