East Film Club meets to watch “The Palm Beach Story”

The East Film Club met for their monthly meeting today, February 2, after school in the Little Theater. Co-founder Julianne Roseman was joined by about 10 other students to watch The Palm Beach Story, a 1942 comedy about a woman who loves her inventor husband so much she is willing to divorce him to get someone to monetarily fund his newest idea.

“Julianne likes to do a theme,” said advisor Mr. Paul Howe. “[The club viewed] Dracula for Halloween and It’s A Wonderful Life [for Christmas]. Julianne liked the idea of doing an anti-love / anti-Valentine’s story for February.”

The black and white film was directed by Preston Sturges. “He had 10 years where he was the greatest director of comedies in Hollywood,” said Howe of how the film educates members of another generation of movies.
