Cherry Hill High School East’s Studio II Advanced Acting class will hold a Studio II Show. The show will be filmed at school with a live audience and put on YouTube on the tentative date of February 4, 2022.

The Studio II Show project started in January, as students of the Studio II Show class put a lot into the production. A student wrote the framework for the Studio II Show, including the series of featured shows that make up the production. This annual project is something all Studio II students complete as a part of their school year.

This year, students of the Studio II Show wanted to show their interest in the American late-night television show, Saturday Night Live. Drawing inspiration from this comedy show, students of the Studio II class decided to include a series of fragmented parts to make up the whole production.

“It’s going to be virtual by design,” says Mr. Gambino. “And filmed before a live audience.”

To further match the theme of Saturday Night Live, the show will be held in G-block at school, with a live audience of students to watch the performance. The plan of the Studio II students is for the show to be filmed and put on YouTube with a live audience, to show similarities with Saturday Night Live’s usage of a live audience as well as being posted online.

In addition, the decision to make the production a mostly virtual event was based on the fact of the recent rise of COVID-19 at East and New Jersey being named as being in the “red zone.”

“Also [the show will be online], in case people are not comfortable with going,” says Mr. Gambino.

Mr. Gambino and the Studio II class are continuing to work hard to make sure the production goes to plan, as well as working on the technical aspect of the show.
