After five years world supermodel and American Television Personality, Tyra Banks, will close down her talk show this spring to pursue new career options. The show has won two Daytime Emmy awards and is nominated for a NAACP Image Award for an “Outstanding Talk Series.” In her journal Banks wrote, “I’ve [loved] having fun, coming into your living rooms, bedrooms [and] hair salons for the past five years.”
Now instead of being on TV, Banks is going to redefine beauty for women in film, with encouragement from filmmaker Tyler Perry and longtime mentor Oprah Winfrey. She is going to focus on the launch of Bankable Studios, a New York based film production company, currently reviewing possible projects.
The goal is to bring positive images of women to the big screen.
“My next huge steps will allow me to reach more women and young girls, to help us feel as fierce as we really are,” wrote Banks.
Not only is Banks going to start producing films, but she is currently working to improve Tyra.com with new digital features. One could visit her website and take a tour of “Tyra’s Virtual World,” or join her Inner Circle, where users can write comments and questions addressed to Tyra and she will respond to her circle through various video clips.
Banks will continue to host the hit CW reality TV show, America’s Next Top Model, which returns in February, as well as her new show True Beauty on ABC.
