Netflix brings back Gilmore Girls for a four episode revival season
The popular 2000’s show, Gilmore Girls, will be returning to the big screen late this November with a four episode revival season.
The show, originally airing its first episode on October 5, 2000, continued on for seven seasons until it ended in 2007. The show takes place in Stars Hollow, Connecticut, which is a charming little town full of interesting characters and never ending town meetings.
Lorelai Gilmore, who is played by Lauren Graham, is a bubbly single mother who thrives off of coffee. Her daughter Rory, played by Alexis Bledel, is a student at Yale who finds joy in the little things. Lorelai’s parents, Emily and Richard Gilmore, are also prominent characters in the show.

The hardships of family, friendships and boyfriends all face Lorelai and Rory as the years pass. The show received lots of love from its viewers who felt as if they were walking right alongside the two Gilmore girls on their journey through life.
The show’s last episode aired on May 15, 2007, but it was recently revealed that a new revival season entitled Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will be released in late November. The TV mini series will contain four ninety minute long episodes, each episode representing one season of the year.
Netflix has also announced that all four episodes will be released at the same time, perfect for binge watching. The idea of a Gilmore Girls reunion was tossed around online, and eventually a few cast members got together to reminisce on the good times they had when filming the show.
The producer, Amy Sherman-Palladino, said no official filming for a reunion or revival was taking place but many cast members showed interest in doing so. Eventually, the revival season was created and the filming began way back in February.
So far a few trailers have been released for the new season and they have received positive feedback from the fans.

Chloe Garber (‘19), a Gilmore Girls fan, said “I really can’t wait to watch the new season. It’s so cool that they are giving us the opportunity to see how the character’s lives turn out, not many shows get that.”
Another avid Gilmore Girls fan, Lindsay Kaplan (‘19), was thrilled to hear the news about a revival season. “I’m really looking forward to this new season and seeing how Lorelai and Rory have changed over the years. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen them up on my TV, so I’m really excited for what’s to come, ” said Kaplan.
Kaplan also mentioned how watching Gilmore Girls was something that she and her aunt do together.,
“Since the season will be coming to Netflix late this November, my aunt and I are really excited to watch it together over Thanksgiving break.” Kaplan said, “It’s something special that only [she] and I get to do together.”
The revival season will be coming to Netflix on November 25, and viewers can’t wait to revisit the cozy town of Stars Hollow and catch up with with the two Gilmore girls.
