While Chick-fil-A has seemed to be the biggest contender for fried chicken in the past, Cherry Hill brings a new contestant to the table. Raising Cane’s has made a name for itself locally since it opened in Burlington County in January.

The chain had additional locations open in Marlton and Cherry Hill in early March, giving residents a new place to enjoy crispy and delectable fried chicken.

After seeing countless TikTok videos about this Southern fast food delicacy, I knew it was worth trying to see if the fried chicken and famous Cane’s sauce lived up to the social media high praise. Cane’s has a smaller menu than most, only of- fering fried chicken meals and sandwiches. I got the “Three Finger Combo” as my meal, which comes with three chicken tenders, crinkle-cut fries, one Cane’s sauce, Texas toast and a fountain drink.

I first indulged in the fried chicken, making sure to dip it in the Cane’s sauce after seeing an endless number of videos instructing viewers that dipping your fried chicken in a great amount of Cane’s sauce was the way to go. The sauce, made mainly with mayonnaise and ketchup, definitely didn’t disappoint my standards, adding an immense amount of flavor to the chicken. The fried chicken was good quality and crunchy, however not as crunchy as appeared on- line. The fingers were also thinner than I had expected – I was wishing for more of a thicker kind. Cane’s emphasized the crunch in their fingers, and while the flavor was still there, the crunch was the aspect to make it stand out to me.

The fried chicken and Cane’s sauce were definitely the most outstanding parts of the meal. Cane’s fries got soggy fairly quickly, and didn’t look or taste appealing. They lacked all enjoyable parts of a fry: the saltiness, the crunch and the flavor. After taking one bite of the fry, I had no interest in having any more. While Cane’s fried chicken is easily comparable to other fried chicken places, Cane’s fries were lower quality than other fast food places.

The Texas toast was the final thing I tried, also famous for being dipped in the Cane’s sauce. The bread was soft and doughy, and the sauce brought a lot of additional flavor. The combination of the toast and sauce was immaculate, and not being someone who usually cares for toast on the side, I was impressed with how well they went together.

Raising Cane’s is a great addition to fast food in Cherry Hill and provides another option for people to get well-seasoned, crispy and flavorful fried chicken.
