Family-owned grocery store offers a more friendly atmosphere

If one is looking for a family friendly atmosphere, fresh fruits, vegetables and a juice bar, then JD Produce and Deli is awaiting! Recently opened in April 2009, the family-owned produce and deli sells a variety of New Jersey farm fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as deli meats and cheeses.

The store, located in Voorhees, allows customers to experience a friendly atmosphere in a much smaller store than the typical chain super markets, such as Shop Rite. The store’s setup displays the food right in front of costumers, allowing one to view the quality and variety of foods available. The deli, displayed in the back of the store, has an abundant supply of brands, such as Dietz & Watson, and Chesapeake Valley meats and cheeses. The meats and cheeses are sliced directly in front of costumers in a clean area. Their homemade salads are also displayed, including tossed salad, antipasto Salad, Jamie’s Salad and Chef Salad along with many more selections. The salads are available in both personal and family sizes.

The store, buying mostly from new jersey farmers, allows customers to get a taste of  seasonal fruits and vegetables such as, watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, green peppers, lettuce, and tomatoes. Fruits and vegetables take up a big portion of the store, displayed in crates.  The surrounding food consists of breads, chips, pastas, macaronis, condiments, and nuts.

The Juice Bar located in the back kitchen, is priced at around $2.50 for a 9oz drink and around $3.50 for a 12 oz drink. The juices are created from the multiple fresh fruits in the store.  The employee blends upon order, making the drink extremely fresh tasting. A popular drink among the juices is love potion, a drink consisting of kiwi, apple, strawberry and other types of fruit. Once a drink is served, guests are welcome to sit outside on table and chairs surrounded by potted flowers.

The differences between big chained stores and JD Produce are evident within the store. The owner, Joe Badagliacco, works alongside employees unlike large chain grocery stores.  The enticing smiles and friendly vibe from the employees at JD make the store feel caring and welcoming.  Although small, the store still makes it easy for guests to have access to usual products such as Heinz, Hellman, and French’s at a cheaper price. However, costumers do not have to deal with the hassle of confusing aisles and long lines.  JD Produce and Deli is open from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Joe Badagliacco and his employees are waiting!

hello my name is Ryan Vandenhaak i have a idea that i believe could revolutionize the way we shop for good and products and the retail stores it is based on the reuse of existing containers we already have laying aroung our how or recycling bins and on how we can cut out the packaging witch is made up for in the price of the product i have a fer working examples that i believe would work in you’re chain of stores i am hitting the ground running with this idea and want to get this idea in motion with a more smaller retailer store then with the bigger stores the working examples are dispensing products that you already sell thank you and look forward to hear from you
