Mark Newcomb speaks on behalf of John Newcomb.

John Newcomb (1980)

John Newcomb was inducted into the hall of fame for tennis and soccer in the 1980s. Sadly, he passed away and could not attend the banquet. His brother accepted his nomination on his behalf. He said that it was a great honor to accept it. He thanks John’s teammates for their hard work on the field and for helping the team win many games. John achieved many accomplishments during his time at east, including winning the first-ever state championship in any sport in East history. John was a fierce competitor and mentally strong. His brother describes him by saying, “John Newcomb was greatness. On the biggest of stages or when the pressure was at its most and the team needed a late goal or to win the match or get a team win, there was John, doing something that can only be described as greatness”. He deserved the award for all his hard work and will always be remembered by the hall of fame.
