The 2022 East Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees
Back in November, the Cherry Hill East Athletics Hall of Fame honored 15 players and 2 coaches for their outstanding achievement at East. This package will include information along with pictures and videos for the 17 inductees.
Theresa Cattuna (2007)
Theresa Cattuna was honored by the hall of fame for X-country and track in 2007. She described her experience playing these sports at East as a life-changing time. She was surrounded by friends, family, and coaches that believed in her and wanted her to succeed, and because of that, she believed in herself too. John Coen (1990)
John Coen was inducted into the hall of fame for playing football at East in the 1990s. He played a huge part in East’s upbringing in sports and felt highly honored to be selected by the selection committee for an award. Chris Santo (2011)
Chris Santo could not attend the hall of fame due to his job. He was a massive part of the East basketball team and graduated in 2011. On his behalf, his old teammate Sam Rose made a speech.
Margie Krzeminski (1987)
Margie Krzeminski’s soccer career at East in 1987 got her inducted into the hall of fame. She was happy for everyone that got inducted and was truly honored to be included in the selection. Elyse Mitchell was inducted for her skill in volleyball at east in 2003. John Newcomb (1980)
John Newcomb was inducted into the hall of fame for tennis and soccer in the 1980s. Sadly, he passed away and could not attend the banquet. His brother accepted his nomination on his behalf. Tara Owens (1992)
Tara Owens played field hockey and lacrosse. She was inducted into the hall of fame for both sports. The day she found out she was selected, she cried happy tears and was so thankful to be recognized for her talents. Cathy Richter (2003)
Cathy Richter was honored in the hall of fame for Tennis and Softball in 2003. She was stoked to be able to come back to Cherry Hill, accept the award for her talent, and bring her kids to see where she grew up. Kevin Roche (1997)
Kevin Roche was inducted into the hall of fame for his fantastic work on the East Men´s Volleyball and Cross Country team. He graduated from East in 1997, was part of the original team, and won two championships. He brought his old teammates to the hall of fame induction and said, ¨[I] couldn´t have done it without them.¨ He loved being on the volleyball team, and now he even coaches....
Debbie Wilkinson (1984)
Debbie Wilkinson states she is ¨honored¨ to be inducted into the East hall of fame, especially since she gets to do it with her sister Kim Wilkinson. Debbie Wilkinson graduated in 1984 and was inducted due to her amazing work on the East Women´s Swim team. She stated her favorite part of being on the team when she was on it was how many sister pairs were together.
Kim Wilkinson (1982)
Kim Wilkinson was also inducted into the East hall of fame due to her extreme talent on the Swim team. She loved becoming a state champion with her sister and winning their last relay together. She graduated from East in 1982. ¨Amazing and flattered¨ is how Kim Wilkinson describes her experience of being added to the hall of fame.
Ravi Yega-Raman (2008)
Ravi Yega-Raman could not attend the hall of fame, but he was inducted for his amazing work on the East tennis team. He graduated from East in 2008.
Dave Cole (Coach)
Dave Cole was inducted into the East hall of fame as a girl's tennis coach from the years of 1974-1992. His favorite part of being a coach was ¨winning several championships and watching friendships grow up.¨ He is ¨incredibly flattered, and this is very humbling.¨ ¨You get to meet dedicated and caring people.¨
Ryan Shore (2003)
Ryan Shore was an incredibly talented swimmer that was inducted into the East Hall of Fame. Although he said in his speech that looking back he never truly loved the sport of swimming, his favorite memory was “winning state championships in 2001.” He loved swimming because of his teammates and looks back at his years at East fondly.
Todd Barrett (’85)
Todd Barrett could not attend but was still honored at the hall of fame for soccer when he played in 1985.
Karl Moehlmann (Coach)
Karl Moehlmann was the East boys soccer team coach and volleyball coach. He was inducted into the hall of fame for his work on both teams. He is ¨highly honored and really appreciates this.¨ His favorite parts of coaching were running practices, winning championships, and comebacks.
Jackie Herb (2005)
Jackie Herb was inducted for being a star tennis player in 2005. Jackie was so ecstatic when she found out she was inducted into the hall of fame that she cried tears of joy. She also got to reconnect with her best friend and all her old coaches and says, "If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be who I am today”. She learned many life lessons from her coaches.
