Jaclyn Burmood (‘22) has committed to Neumann University to continue her athletic and academic career. Next fall, Burmood will join the Neumann soccer team and pursue a major in nursing.
At the age of just four years old, Burmood started playing soccer for her club team, Cherry Hill FC, “I grew up watching my older brother play soccer so that is where I got my inspiration to play”.
Once given the opportunity to play for her school, Burmood immediately started playing for her middle school team. Come freshman year, she joined the Cherry Hill East girls soccer program and finished off her senior season this past fall. This past September, the coach of Neumann University reached out to Burmood interested in having her play for the team, which changed her thinking about her future college plans. Interestingly enough, although Burmood shared such a strong love for soccer, she did not plan on playing soccer in college, “At first I wasn’t really giving the idea of playing in college a lot of effort, but then I realized I couldn’t imagine not having soccer in my life”.
Burmood understands the new adventure she is about to encounter and the load of dedication it takes. She says, “I know doing both soccer and nursing is going to be a lot of commitment, but I am doing what I love and am prepared to fit both into my life”.
Burmood is looking forward to her upcoming school year at Neumann University. She is nervous to be faced with the challenge of playing a college-level sport, however, is excited to continue what brings her happiness. Burmood has all good things coming her way and we wish her the best of luck.
