Boys basketball comes back with a win

Cherry Hill East Varsity Boys Basketball team has made a come-back. After losing the last three games to Lenape, Pennsauken and Washington Township, the Cougars got back on top at the Rancocoas Valley Tournament against Ewing.

The Cougars’ come-back was not the only thing that surprised the crowd in the bleachers. Chris Santo (’11) scored 48 points in the game, leading the Cougars to another successful win. The Cherry Hill East Boys Varsity Basketball game record for most points scored by one person was reached back in the 70’s, with 53 points.

The success of the game did not stop for Santo, who later made 15 free throws and 13 rebounds. After Santo the leading scorer was Ben Gerstein (’10), scoring 9 points.

Throughout the game, Greg Middleman (’09) and Stacy Upshaw (’11) both scored 5 points. Also, Seth Friedman (’10) scored 4 points and had 14 assists.

Overall, the game wrapped up with a score of 79-56, with a Cougars win. As the season keeps on going, East will continue to work hard for each point earned.
